WE BELIEVE THAT THERE IS HOPE FOR EVERYONE
In 2023, over 213,000 Danes were convicted of a crime.
Of these, 8,136 went to prison..
Statistics show that two-thirds of them will end up behind bars again within 2 years after
their release – with major human, social and financial consequences. At the same time,
society outside the prison world lacks insight into how it affects a person to have been in
prison. We must stop this upward curve.
FREE INMATE is an exit community that wishes to offer former inmates a new start and a
foundation for a healthy and sustainable future.
We believe that there is hope for everyone. And we are convinced that together we can make a difference in the lives of former inmates.
It is therefore FREE INMATE’s stated goal – in continuation of Alpha’s work in prisons – to support and inspire former inmates and their families through communities and mentoring. FREE INMATE also points to Jesus as a solid path to a new start after release. Because we believe that no one is beyond the reach of hope!
With that background, FREE INMATE wishes to work closely with churches, congregations
and church communities so that we – together – can strengthen and develop our joint
project. And so that FREE INMATE will become a blessing for both individuals and society as a whole.
