COMMUNITY IS TO SUCCEED

If you and your church want to be part of FREE INMATE, there are several ways this can happen.
At FREE INMATE, we would love it if our vocation were also your vocation – in your church. Because both the former inmates and their relatives need you. And for us.
That is why FREE INMATE wants a close collaboration with your church/congregation/ecclesiastical community, so that together we can tackle the big task, which is, to reach, support, help, inspire and encourage ex-prisoners and their relatives. By showing them the love of Jesus and walking with them – side by side.

So it works out for them. So they succeed. And so they once again become citizens who are fully integrated into our society and can contribute to the society that is also theirs.

IMPORTANT KEYS

Most inmates have a clear idea of what it takes for them to “succeed” after serving their sentence. However, many of them find that it is much more difficult than expected, and that the process back into society takes significantly longer than expected.

One of the most important keys to change is having someone with whom to follow along. Therefore, healthy, permanent communities play a large role in whether an inmate succeeds in creating a new start for him- or herself after release.

The former inmates ‘shame is also the relatives’ shame. Therefore, it is of great importance that the church/congregation/ecclesiastical community is also open to and aware of reaching out to relatives, e.g. by offering a chat, a cup of coffee or a visit, so that there is also an invitation to dialogue and cohesion between the church and the rest of the family.

Against this background, FREE INMATE, together with its partners, wishes primarily to create two things:

In addition, you and your church can support FREE INMATE financially and become a volunteer in the work.

The combination of local communities and the mentoring scheme is a transition, a bridge back into society. With these two initiatives as a starting point, our joint collaboration can be a blessing for the individual and for society as a whole.

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”
